Two things, dz.

First, McVay always goes out of his way to say nice things about his players. A very nice thing, indeed, but one that must be taken with a grain of salt. Perhaps not always taken literally?

Second, about Goff’s “immaturity” issue? Didn’t seem too “immature” when throwing to Woods, Kupp, and Gurley.

Look, Watkins underwhelmed last season. Something not quite “right” between him and Goff/McVay’s O. I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Maybe it’s simply because he’s been overrated? Occam’s Razor? I dunno...

On point #1, I'm not a big fan of the lets-listen-to-the-coach-some-of-the-time-when-it-fits-my-narrative game.

IMO, McVay has been extremely forthcoming so I don't take his words with a grain of salt. It's weird to me how you don't either when he says something that you already agree with.

On your second point, this has already been explained ad nauseum. McVay simplified his reads to a portion of the field.
The result is naturally gonna be much higher targets to the underneath and intermediate routes. Who would benefit from that? That's right: Gurley, Kill, and Woods!
