The reason I asked this question in the first place, was of the Joe Flacco contract. Once the Ravens rewarded him with that contract that was over a hundred million dollars, and I am not looking at the numbers I am looking at the percentage of salary cap rewarded to one guy, they have never sniffed the Super Bowl again. After the Ravens won, the next year it was a fire sale. The Flacco contact started the huge QB contracts and that was the kiss of death. As much as I hate to use them as a model New England refuses to pay one player that type of money, I know Brady gives them a discount but if he did not Grapallo would have been leading the Pats.
I love AD, and want him to stay a Ram for life, but at what cost? Lastly, if we over pay AD like we did TA we are dead in the water.
That's a myth about the "Brady discount."
22 M is just 3 M shy of a top qb contract.
And since Brady is 40, being 3 M short of the top contract makes sense.
Flacco's deal, btw, like all other deals, was within normal market parameters. It was either pay him that or let him go. If they let him go they would just be paying a different qb if in fact they found one they could stick with.
