I agree that Rams will probably come out on top (sorry to repeat myself, this thread is already huge).
All I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't disparage AD for trying to get his. Football is a business. Despite what some players may say about 'putting the team first' when they don't hold out, the truth is that there isn't a single player in the NFL who won't use the leverage available to him to get the best deal possible. If they aren't holding out, it's because they don't have (or believe they have) the leverage to do so.
There are rare exceptions (Tom Brady being an example), but those sort of players have very specific motivations. Brady knows the window to rake in championships is closing, and he already has more money than God (less than his wife though), and so he's willing to take a pay cut to help build a team that will win him more rings.
You've been very reasonable in this discussion, ramble. I admire and respect that in a poster.
Look, AD is "gonna get his" if he and his agents don't screw this all up. A generous offer is sitting there on the table, reportedly. I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of $18-20 million per for 5-6 years with $60-70 million guaranteed. That's for a DT in the middle of a valid contract, mind you.
Far, far more than he would get if he doesn't budge and is forced to play out his rookie contract plus 2 years on the tag.
It's a no brainer for him, unless he allows his agents to continue to give him bad advice.
