Yeah, AD is a great player. That opinion is unanimous, I think.
But let me ask you this question.
How many games would the Rams win both with and without AD? Please don't just kneejerk respond. Think about it for a minute first.
WITH AD at DT we've won 7, 6, and 4 games in the three seasons that he's been here.
Obviously, not all the responsibility for wins falls on his shoulders. And again, he's played superbly.
My point? The Ram world doesn't revolve around ANY particular DT. Not even one as gifted as AD. Heck, I think McVay could win 17 games in 3 years with Joe Schmoe off the street at DT, tbh.
The Rams know this. They also know who has all the leverage. Unless the Rams needlessly cave, AD and his agents are gonna learn all about the importance of leverage in contract negotiations.
AD and his agents are positioning themselves to get hurt feelings needlessly while embarrassing themselves publicly. Might cause hard feelings that cause him to sign elsewhere. In '21, that is after two taggings.
