They imploded under Fisher last year and it was painful to watch those last 5-6 games. It was time to turn the page 100%. But I don't think it erases that, well at least for me, from 2012-2014 they were a "breath of fresh air" from the abomination of 2007-2011. Wasn't ever a dynamic passing game but it was a fun team to watch overall because they were very competitive. The first 45 games of Fisher's tenure they were 20-24-1. After that they stagnated. And then declined again.

What kept them from doing better, I think, was some significant injuries.

Not counting 2016, when as you say they fell apart, in those previous 64 games, 2012-14, they had a starting caliber qb for 27 of them. I am counting Foles pre-meltdown as starting caliber. So that's Foles 4 plus Bradford 23.

And of course they had OL issues. First 8 games of 2012 they had extensive OL injuries. They were okay in that regard for the 2nd half of 2012 and most of 2013. 2014 the OL was a mess, losing guys and playing guys hurt. That led to the overnight OL fix consisting of lots of young draft picks. Then, in 2015, they were both inexperienced AND frequently injured. Add that up and that means that in 64 games, they had a relatively healthy experienced OL for a total of 20 games.

There are some qbs who have proven they can still play effectively behind lines like that, but they're called Brady and Wilson, not Clemens and Davis.
