If one takes an objective look at the list Paul provided, one has to conclude that the “hit rate” during Fisher’s regime was not as good as under McVay despite Fisher’s overwhelming advantage in premium picks. And that’s being kind. Lol.
Yeah, there were some major hits during the Fisher years, including AD, Gurley, and Goff. But one should ask the obvious question, “how did Gurley and Goff look in ‘16 under Fisher?
And the Tavon and GRob mistakes with super high picks were HUGE misses. Quick and Pead aren’t going to the HOF anytime soon, either.
In contrast, it seems that every pick, FA, and trade seems to work out well for the S&M collaboration. Despite not having nearly the quantity and quality of premium picks.
Sooooo... I think Paul’s point stands. There seems to be no comparison between the evaluation and development talents between the 2 regimes.
People have been over this and over this and over this. Yet I find I have to say the same things over and over as they get forgotten.
I looked objectively and the hit rate is a good one. I mean what do you think a good hit rate IS? It's rare and exceptional to hit 50%, That's just being objective.
And it's not just "major hits." It's far better than that .That's just being objective.
And the idea that every pick worked out in 2017 is not objective.
BTW the Rams have traditionally been very good at trades, going back a few decades.
The FAs under Snead/McVay do better overall but then they didn't lose some to a lot of freak injuries either .
And it's not just that the major hits were major hits---landing Donald, Gurley, and Goff is NFL historic good. Name other teams who have done anything like that. It's just plain not that many. I can think of the Steelers and Bradshaw, Green, Harris. Who else?
