Why throw the baby out with the bathwater? KD was in the the draft room. I would think he knows who was responsible for what. I suspect Snead is still around because Fisher was the one making the decisions. maybe he knows Snead preferred other choices. Moreover I don't think he's out of the woods. I suspect it all depends on how this draft goes with him and mcvay.
There are so many assumptions there about how things work that go against the grain of what we actually know from a few years of them saying how it worked.
First, a different thing---the assumption that Snead's drafting has to be explained or excused just doesn't hold up. 2006-2008 was bad drafting. 2009-2011 was average to average at best drafting. By any standard you want to used based on the percentage of hits you can expect from good teams drafting, Rams drafting from 2012-15 anyway is good (we don't know about 2016 yet...and a lot depends on Goff).
Second, the way the Rams approached drafting, it would just not be possible for the scenario you describe to show up where "Snead wanted someone else." We know how they worked that. They put together a board long before the draft, and the process of putting together the board included discussion and debate. Once the board was set, come draft day, the Rams stuck by their board. There would never BE a scenario on draft day where Snead would go "I want Player ABC" and Fisher would go "I over-rule you." It never worked like that.
And yes Fisher had final say, but that doesn't mean what people seem to think it does---if you stick by your board then that's that.
So to turn this around to another issue, would Demoff know how well the Rams drafted? Absolutely. Would he keep a guy he thought drafted poorly? Well only if he were insane. Would there be instances where Snead "wanted someone Fisher didnt"? Not as I said if they followed their process, which was to do all the heavy lifting and work way before the draft when they produced a ranked board.
So a lot of this stuff about Snead strikes me, anyway, as being just off the mark.
