Well THAT was a bad argument that was simply blind to the fact that the 2011 Rams had (according to Football Outsiders) the single most injured offense since 2002. And that's not even counting the 10 CBs they lost in one year.
A lot of times, people just don't factor things like that in. It leads to incomplete and usually not very useful analysis.
Fisher inherited far more in 2012 than Carroll did in Seattle in 2010.
Oh and btw fwiw I don't really personally count it as meaning much that "people used to argue" something. It usually makes no difference to me. BUT if some people used to argue the 2012 Rams roster was "depleted" fine...I just think that's obviously wrong. In fact 5 years later they still have 6 regular contributors from before 2012, and that's after letting JL and Long go.
2012 needed to be rebuilt but they DID inherit players.
