IF Goff ascends the Rams ascend Regardless of who the head coach is? That is a narrow limb to walk out on.
If the wrong head coach with his hand selected offensive staff develop Goff, he will ascend at a snails pace..
Better talent/coaching on the O-Line and pass catchers are also needed to for him to ascend. The Lack of professional quality coaching (correct fit for his skill set) and a failed offensive scheme have a big impact on his career early on.
An NFL head coach and his selected staff do matter, Regardless of how talented the QB from Cal is, he comes from a college system that requires competent coaching to accelerate his talent to the point of ascending a team to the level you're referring to.
Yeah, you're right. I overstated it. Of course a QB doesn't exist in a vacuum.
I have been yelling for a stud 10-year center and a stud WR for about 5 years straight in the draft. But I think the development of Goff is more important than either of those two things (that I still dearly covet). The WRs are not difference makes, but they can be effective enough to win if Goff becomes a pro bowler like Matt Ryan.
If Goff is a bust, the Rams will pay the price for years.
