He hit Quick with a nice fade for a score against Arizona.
There' s no way I can see that construed as a poor choice or throw.
I assume it is a good play, sure. There's certainly no reason to assume it isn't that I can see. Doing it once means they can do it AND probably indicates they work on it extensively. After all, they audibled into a play that was a set option, and the entire point of the set option was to give Quick a chance to make a play the way they undoubtedly had in practice many times. Otherwise why put it in as an option for Keenum to exploit when he saw the chance to do it.
Either way, there's nothing telling me that's a bad play.
And of course the real problem was Quick not getting the audible and being in a position to make that play. You can argue all night whether throwing fades to Quick is a good play or not, without getting anywhere really, but you cannot argue Quick executed what he was asked to do. That trumps all other considerations IMO.
...
is defending Quick. Just a red herring. Typical kind of tactic.
The issue is there is no reason to defend Keenum to the level you are. And I HAVE been arguing that going to Quick is not a good play. Throwing a fade to Cris Carter is a good play. To quick, with Keenum throwing? NOT a good play.
You're quote, "nothing telling me that's a bad play"
Other than the interception?
Other than the original play was an under concept that had 2 receivers open for a sure 5 yard gain and a missed tackle for a 1st down?
Other than for whatever reason Keenum cannot get on same page with a WR?
Other than perhaps calling a long pass (30 yards in air) to get a 1st down on a blitz where there will be an unblocked man.
It was a disaster area and the pick was just the icing on the cake.
