Well that assumes he (they) are disrespecting the country by exercising the very right that the anthem stands for. IMHO what better way to show and reflect what this country is really all about than to stand, kneel, sit, in silent protest of a central issue in our country.- the very thing that our military fights to defend. Real disrespect is the failure of the Senate to pass bills that would expand health care and education to returning war vets. That's real-that's no gesture.
BTW: speaking of anecdotal evidence I know several non-football people who actually turned in to see the games just to see what the big deal was. To a person their response was "what's the big deal".
