NOW people are worried that Keenum will start all season?
No, I'm worried that Goff WILL NOT start all season. There's a subtle but meaningful difference.
I would be happy as a clam that Keenum is playing to his potential, if we weren't watching next year's draft capital riding the pine this year. Those picks aren't going to come back even if Keenum lights it up. I want more investment of
time into our investment of
draft capital, that's all.
To your point though, it's a good problem to have: a "backup" QB who's just too good to get him off the field. That I agree with. What a blessing and welcome turn of luck for the Rams.
I see your concern but don’t share it for one simple reason: Mannion. It appeared in preseason that the difference between him this year versus last year was night and day. So QB’s can develop while holding clipboards.
If Goff ended up sitting the whole year, I’m confident that he would have developed significantly like Mannion did and be ready to start next year. I don’t prefer that he sits the entire year but I wouldn’t be one bit anxious about it.
I anticipate that he’ll be a Ram for another 14 years after this one.
