The obvious positive is - the Rams are winning!
And Case is doing enough to help make that happen.
So we should be happy with that. And I am. Sort of.
However...I still believe, and I think most of you do, that an acclimated Goff is going to be the better QB, and give us a better chance of winning games.
Every time the Rams win with CK at QB, even if the defense is doing the lion's share of it, I think CK gets a little more rope from Fisher. As the wins increase, by the same token, the number of losses it will take for JF to switch to Goff also becomes larger.
Fisher has said that Goff will play when he's ready. But I wonder if that standard may be changing. From a team chemistry standpoint, or even just a lucky tshirt standpoint, staying with CK even after Goff is "ready", becomes a strong temptation for the coaching staff.
So what, Saguaro, if we're winning? So what? Here's what. Because the day may very well come, when the Rams need a better QB than CK out there to win a big game. A win to make the playoffs, or even (dare we think it?) a playoff game itself.
And then the limitations are finally felt, dangit, and the Rams lose a game they might have been able to win with Goff, after he had gotten some experience and settled in.
I said this back in preseason, and was told not to worry about it. But Goff not winning the starting position then has downseason repercussions, as far as when to finally make the move to him, assuming he does in fact become "ready".
I know I'm going to hear about why I can't just be happy that they're winning. I am. But I want the Rams to KEEP winning, and I want them to be the best they can be, not just barely good enough.
I think winning squeakers with CK will give the coach too much confidence in doing that, and delay the QB change that should happen.
JMO, of course, as always.
