I went two years to watch them at Western Illinois U. Met all sorts of folks, became friends with Jim Holder the voice of the Rams at the stadium, if he's still alive I'm sure he'd remember me.
I was in the autograph like when Kevin Carter walked through, & I said "Kevin, can I get your autograph" he looked me & just scowled & said "No way man!" As I was standing there dumbfounded he looked at me, started laughing & said "Man, I just messing with you, give it here" He signed & handed it to the guy behind him & lightly punched me in the shoulder laughing.
I was also lucky enough one year to be there when they let the team loose for the evening, we went to a pizza place & there was a table full of OL, Timmerman & Pace are the only ones I remember today, but back then I knew them all.
We went to next room to sit & there was Grant Wistrom with his girl (or a girl??)
We didn't bug any of them other than Hi & Bye
Then they moved the camps to StL & public could only get in one session a day so I quit going.
You couldn't possibly know the whole story with only half the facts.
