Dotson was a 4th round pick in 2020, making this just his 4th year in the league.
I know it's his contract year, but maybe it just took him a while to develop. (It happens to the best of them. This is Jackie Slater, a 3rd round pick in 1976:
"Used primarily as a backup and special teams player during his first three seasons, Slater became the starting right tackle in 1979." [

Or maybe the Rams' scheme is a better fit for his skill set.
Or maybe he finally found coaches who he could connect with.
Or maybe he just likes playing with the Rams so much that the team simply brings out the best in him.
Obviously I have no idea why Dotson is playing as well as he is this year. But the fact that he is playing so well cannot be ignored.
Unless he is just in it for the money then the contract year aspect can be discarded - and to be honest I doubt that Dotson picked up his game in year 4 just so he can cash in on his second contract.
The Rams have struggled to find quality OL. They found one in Dotson. I hope they keep him.
