I see what you mean re: Evans, but his pass pro may not be the issue. Akers wasn't that good at pass pro either, yet he started. For now, Williams is the best at pass pro we've had since Faulk. He's instrumental in protecting Stafford. That's reason enough to give him snaps.
Evans' peanut punch (?) fumble preseason sticks in my mind... if he's a fumbler, and teams that have watched his tape go for the ball, we lose possessions and points - and still don't know what he can do.
Ball security is a learnable skill. I don't know that Evans still can't hang onto the rock, but I don't know that he can, either.
Only one way to find out whether Evans can cut the mustard, mt. I’m merely suggesting that McVay take him for a short test drive.
