Which kinda obliterates the guy's point.no?
There was no safety help on that side, you see the safety go to the right ... the defensive end dropped
So, what you show confirms ... it clearly said it Kupp ran a clear-out route ... and Stafford saw it was man-to-man
and hit Kupp.
The real difference the Rams went temp.
So no, it does not obliterate the guy's point it buttresses it. Stafford saw man-to-man coverage on that concept
Goff didn't.
The Chiefs didn't blow some coverage that had deep safety help ... it was blown coverage that had no deep safety help
it was pretty clear on film that he *could* have hit his favorite guy like Stafford did but for whatever reason Goff
took the scripted DIG
So, if you think it takes down the guy's point - tell me where you see deep help? It looks the same as cover-0
You asked the question, I gave it my explanation...If I am seeing it wrong, tell me what you see?
More than willing to listen and learn since this was an intelligent point, worthy of a good football discussion.
Just not seeing anything that contradicts anything other than the going fast.
In his very gentle way, Kurt says Ben is wrong here. In two ways. First, Ben's big point is the Stafford is very creative, and that play is offered as evidence of his creativity because it shows how in a key moment Stafford went outside the play progression. Problem is that it doesn't show that at all because Kupp is the primary for Stafford given the defensive look. Stafford made an excellent throw at a key moment but ... creative? No. tBen is simply mistaken there.
Second, Stafford and Goff actually faced slightly different defensive looks and pressures that affect how the respective plays unfold. When it comes to knowing what's what in terms of offensive/defensive alignments, I'll go with the HOF QB's take.
Anyhooo - that's it for me.

Love this Ben, here are a few thoughts to add:
1) on any good play - EVERYONE is an option vs the right D
2) The Chiefs ran to what we call a 2-Invert Coverage (not man) in which guy down middle always is an option Vs Middle Open D
3) Due to pressure JG was “HOT” here (unblocked defender coming) - so he either takes quick throw backside or it forces him to speed up here & not be able to see everything (as he almost gets hit before throw)
4) Stafford’s play was vs BLITZ 0 (No safety sitting in middle of field before snap) against which the POST area becomes primary thought for QBs while beating extra pressure guy
