That respect goes both ways - I have always enjoyed out interactions.
I see your spin. Here's mine.
The Rams intentionally moved to get their salary cap in order this year, and an unfortunate byproduct of that decision is the purge of some talented payers. And I know they could have kept a lot of those guys and tried to make another run this year. In fact, I wrote a post in January [
ramsrule.com] showing how the Rams could restructure a bunch of guys and generate over $88M in cap space for 2023. The problem that creates, though, is they would be be $24M over the cap in 2024.
Would that have been worth it? Do you think the Rams would have been Super Bowl contenders this year if they did that? If they tried then they'd be in even worse shape next year, therefore would have probably taken even longer to return to relevance, and probably would not have Stafford, Kupp, or Donald around anymore when they were 'good' again. So one more year on this window in exchange for what? An even longer rebuild/retool?
I like when the Rams make the playoffs. Maybe they could have done that again this year, but there would have been a bigger price to pay than what the Rams are paying this year.
The Rams obviously didn't think it was worth it. And I'm on board.
And I remember reading your post back then too. The Rams confirmed your thoughts in some articles as well.
I do not have a problem with what the Rams are doing at all. I think if we look at the "bigger picture" it just makes the more sense than "paying the piper" for another year.
Eventually that bill comes due! lol
I am feel confident McVay and Snead can rebuild and restock the Roster and I think next year we will see a more aggressive approach that Rams fans will be happy with!
I think we are right back to F-them Picks by 2025 to complete the "rebuild"...I won't call it a "tank"! lol
Like you, I am "onboard" too!
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
