"Rebuilding", "Retooling", "Restocking", "Tanking" all meant the same things IMO. The "priority" is not on winning.
I just googled "definition of tanking in pro sports" and this is from the first hit I got: [
en.as.com]
Tanking is purposely creating a bad team while intending to lose games in order to win high draft picks. Is that honestly what you think the Rams are doing?!?
The other terms you mentioned might lead to a team losing a bunch of games. The difference is with tanking losing as many games as is the objective, not an unfortunate byproduct.
There in no way the Rams are building a roster with the intention of losing as many games as possible in order to improve their draft position. As such they are not tanking.
First off, much respect to you AlbaNY. Always fun to talk with you!
Would you agree that the Rams downgraded the talent on purpose? If so, their "intention" is not putting the best team on the field to "win" games. If it was, they never would have let that "better" talent go in the first place IMO.
The Rams came right out and admitted they "COULD HAVE" kept a better roster but "didn't want to kick that can further down the road".
That's right from the Rams mouths.
I am not saying the Rams will go out there and purposely try and lose games. They won't. But as I said, by getting rid of all that "better talent" the odds of them winning a lot of games is a lot lower than if they would have kept some of those players.
I don't have a problem with what the Rams are doing and I don't have a problem seeing it for what it is... a focus on 2024, not 2023.
No sure of you Google "Rebuild" or "retool" or "Restock" and will find the exact same meaning or not but all them result in the same thing, IMO.
Obviously the Rams feel better calling it a "Retool". (Snead's words, not mine) It wouldn't be a smart financial decision to say the word "Tanking".
So to your question AlbaNY, "Purposely creating a bad team"? I would have to say, yes they have "purposely" created a team that is worse than what they could have and the end result is the same as "tanking'. A loss of more games than what they could have won if they would have "purposely" kept some of that better talent.
BTW, we all KNOW the Cards ARE tanking but you know what? I don't think I have heard one player, coach or FO person actually say "we are tanking". And guess what? They don't have to say it. I know what they are doing. The media knows what they are doing and so do their fans but not ONE of them will call it "tanking". lol
As long as the Rams are going to be a better team in the long run, I am ok with their plan even if it is tanking, retooling or restocking.
Of course, all this is just MY opinion.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
