... and rather than cherry pick, here are all the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounders since 2017 - McVay's first year:

2017: Gerald Everett (2), Cooper Kupp (3), Josh Reynolds (4), Samson Ebukam (4). Everett is still in the league but did nothing for the Rams. Kupp? 'nuff said. Reynolds and Ebukam each played every game in each of their 4 years with the Rams and both are still in the league. Is that 3 hits, taking into consideration what you can reasonably expect in the 4th round?

2018: Joe Noteboom (3), Brian Allen (4). Boom and Allen are starters with the Rams. Are both hits?

2019: Taylor Rapp (2), Darrell Henderson (3), David Long (3), Bobby Evans (3), Greg Gaines (4). Rapp started every game in '21 and '22 and had another 15 starts his 1st 2 years. Light production considering his draft status. Same for DH, DL, and BE. So Gaines is the only hit?

2020: Cam Akers (2), Van Jefferson (3), Terrell Lewis (3), Terrell Burgess (3), Brycen Hopkins (4). Two hits - Cam and Van?

2021: Tutu Atwell (2), Ernest Jones (3), Bobby Brown III (3), Robert Rochelle (3), Jacob Harris (4). Jones is a hit. Jury is still out on BB3: this is his 3rd year, and Gaines didn't have a single start until his 3rd year yet we all consider him a hit. Lets see what BB3 does this year before writing his obit. Same with Rochelle - make or break year for him as far as I'm concerned. So one hit with a couple to be determined.

2022: Logan Bruss (2), Cobie Durant (3). One hit.

Summary: 23 picks, somewhere between 7 and 12 hits depending on how you count them and whether BB3 and/or Rochelle work out. Somewhere between 30% and 52%. (Without looking it up I bet even 30% ranks pretty high league-wide for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks.)

Rams are keeping Bruss at RT, which hurts his playing time…

Apparently, the scout (or scouts) that graded Bruss blew it Big Time…

No such thing as blowing it big on a 3rd round pick

RockRam125August 06, 2023 06:39AM

I concur, it was a 3rd round pick.

at some point you have to hit on picks to build a team
