The percentage of 3rd round players who ever become starters is small....I believe I read something like 12%. So to characterize it as "blowing it" on any 3rd rounder, expecting him to be a starter (especially after missing his entire rookie season to injury), is a bit much. Of course, we'd all like to see him be a Cooper Kupp type of pick. Doesn't happen that often.
But, who knows how he'll develop. I could easily see the Rams starting 5 as Jackson, Avilla, Shelton, Anchrum, Havenstein, with back ups Noteboom, Allen, Bruss, and TBD. I'd speculate that it could be McClendon because there seems to be a sentiment that he can play inside.
Plus it is only his second year. Anchrum has been around longer so I am not ready to give up on Bruss. Funny how Jourdan had Anchrum early on and people who attending training camp last summer had Anchrum ahead of Bruss too. Again, give the kid some time to adapt and then you can make a proper evaluation.
