When you haven't had a first round pick for a few years, those 3rd round picks become more important than they would to other teams.
Yes, I know it takes time for some players to develop. Especially later round picks but that's why hitting on our 3rd rounder, and all the other picks, was "more" important to us. We don't have the luxury to wait 4 years for guys like Tutu and Bruss to "develop".
I agree the "expected" rate of 3rd round picks making it is low but when that 3rd rounder is really "needed" to contribute early and you pick a player that might not play for a few years, there is a problem.
I might not call it a "blown pick" but I would say they dropped the ball and should have done a better job at picking someone who had a better chance of playing sooner than later.
Not making a pick (OL) that kind of seems more like a "make up" pick for missing out on Creed and taking Tutu instead of picking player that really had better potential.
IMO, they could be better at drafting players. The missing on Creed, taking Tutu, Bruss and others.
They're not horrible at it,but they sure need to improve at it or else it's back to the old "F-them Picks" strategy since some people aren't very good at selecting players in the draft with those picks in the first place.
