He's faster than Robinson and Brockers.
DE in this scheme is no predicated on speed...
As a DT---he's big enough for the role he seems to
be projected at - A Donald backup and maybe rusher
in pass downs...
Everyone would want a 6-5, 310 pound guy who is fast and strong and so on..
but there are few of those.
He's 6-2-1/2 and 293 or so pounds. For a 4i/3T that is big enough as long as you
are quick.
And his style, based on seeing his highlights alone, is as quick, penetrating guy
and his size is similar to some great ones...and so is his quickness.
The reason he fell is some of what you said, I'd say slightly undersized but
a lot was competition level. Wake not being a major school...and maybe
not playing SEC type competition all the time
among drafted guys his size---I am calling it under 300 pounds when
measure his shuttle time was 4.49 a PD---DOnald was 4.39, Gene Atkins - 4.43
Fletcher Cox 4.53
So, his quickness is fine
3-cone? 7.08 for Turner on PD ---better than Aaron Donald's which is one of best-alltime
A lot of great libebackers didn't do a 7.08 3-tome
Bench 31 reps - which is plenty five behind Donald and three behind Atkins
40 = 4.95 in forty....Atkins and Donald a lot better in this one...but it's also
the most useless one..
I think for where Turner plays his phyical qualities are fine...
All that matters is if he can play or not and that is what we don't know. I am someone
who wants to wait and see... Watching his highlights he looks good but that's not enough
we have to see him in games to know and it may take until year two or so, like with some
other Rams DLmen...
But as a DE it's his playing style that might be a fair question, not his speed---for Rams scheme
he's plenty fast for the 5t/4i spot Robinson started at and Bockers before him.
