IMO, this might be Morris's last year here as DC. Not because he will get a HC gig, because we all know he won't. but because I think McVay will want to move on. Maybe McVay will feel bad for Morris and make him an "assistant HC" or something like that just so he can still be paid.
I am going to disagree here because I believe the defense will be a work in progress, but as the year moves along, it will improve propelling Morris into conversations about being a Head Coach and I could see him landing in Washington next year. The Rams have a better secondary coach in Pleasant, they have also added Jimmy Lake a Morris guy plus the coaching of the linebackers should be better with Navy Assistant Joe Coniglio & Chris Shula back where he belongs add in Eric Henderson is still coaching the DL and I expect growing pains in the beginning, but by season's end I expect the defense to much improved.
As to Morris and him leaving, that is also possible by either being elevated by McVay as you communicated or IMO, given an opportunity in an organization like Washington in an executive or possible even Head Coaching position because I believe they will make a change there to start anew and Morris would be the perfect HC for that particular scenario which will not just be based on wins & losses.
As always, I respect your opinion!

FWIW, people have been talking about Morris getting another HC gig for 15 years now! lol The odds might not be in his favor! lol
I am curious why you say "Morris would be the perfect HC for that particular scenario which will not just be based on wins & losses" though. That sounds like low expectations to me...which IMO, would be appropriate.
What kind of organization would bring in a new HC and won't care about wins or losses? Oh wait, you said Washington, lol, you may be right Sir!
Washington is an organization in disarray and the epitome of dysfunction. A new owner won't change that right away but I think they will want to win over the fans again by at least being competitive and show they are changing things for the better.
Not sure Morris would be a good way to do that. IMO, go get a hot young gun that the league is crazy about or a hot college dude. IMO, they should bring in a guy that will generate excitement and hope. IMO, Morris won't do that.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
