Is he the BEST as in the BEST in the league the last five games? Or best as far as rushing yards, pass pro and rushing YAC?
I believe he was best at yards rushing, Pounder.
But behind a patchwork OL, isn’t that alone enough to justify optimism?
Optimism? Yes. But I am not willing to "buy in" anymore than that until I seen it on the field for longer stretches than 5 games.
My skepticism is based on having seen a lot more than 5 games from Cam that were totally not impressive.
The last 5 games, he did play pretty well and seemed motivated. Question for me is Why wasn't he motivated up to this point?
I think this is a contract year for him so I am guessing the Rams are banking on seeing a "motivated" Cam this year and so am I. Now, will his motivation be enough to help him step up his game and be a big time back? If so, he will want a ton of $$$.
I am not a big Cam fan. He seems a bit "streaky", can lose his motivation and quit on the team, struggles to get the short yards and also is not a "game breaker".
He won't be taking it to the house very often and defenses won't be game planning around him. IMO, we need to do better than Cam Akers to make this McVay offense really hum.
Three things.
Akers late season production encourages me.
This is not his ‘contract year’. Rams control him through 2024.
I’m curious to see what Akers can accomplish behind a now good Rams OL.
