I think they’re gonna surprise a few teams, tbh.
Here’s my thinking…
QB. Is there a better NFC QB than a healthy Stafford? Hurts, maybe? But Stafford proved he was mister ‘steal-your-soul’ in ‘21 when protected. Surely a top 7-10 QB, don’t you think? Probably better, imo.
RB. Akers seemed to step up to next level in last 5 games and that was behind a patchwork OL. He was best in league during that stretch. Why not expect more of same behind this ‘new’ OL? And I love Zach Evans behind him, too.
OL. Here’s my projected ‘best 5’:
Boom
Jackson
Avila
Bruss/Anchrum/McClendon
Hav
That looks like a Top 10 OL to me and I would go to war with that unit any old day. Stafford will have all the time he needs to execute the entire playbook.
Here’s my 2nd best OL projection:
Jackson
Avila
Shelton
Bruss/Anchrum/McClendon
Hav
Either of those 2 units are light years better than what we were forced to trot out there in 2022. Love our new OL coach, too. Fixing OL was single biggest boost to overall O this offseason.
WR. AR (and his salary) gone, but so what? Kupp and Jefferson will be our top 2 with Nacua, Atwell, Skow, and others to supplement. Stafford will do quite well with these 5 guys.
TE. If McVay is smart enough to greatly increase 12 personnel sets and force feed Davis, Long, and Hopkins in our passing attack then our O adds an extra dimension. One that will really stress even the top D’s. Such an O could threaten with run or pass on any given play and drive D’s nuts. And the good news is that I think that this is exactly what McVay intends to do. If so, we’re gonna see some fireworks this year and an O putting up close to 30 ppg once again.
Anyway, that’s my reading of the tea leaves regarding O. Thoughts?
Based on what?
