Yeah I agree with this sentiment to a large degree.
First off Ramsey wasn't a shutdown corner. He got beat plenty, had to play off vs quite a few top draws, and has always been a freelancer. Rams wouldn't admit it if they felt he was doing that, but them moving him insinuates that has been the case I think.
Corner we're basically 2 deep, and that's because I think Tomlinson is good enough to start quickly. Felt that way with Durant last year, and he took longer than I figured he would but he did have the injury. So this year Durant should be quality and we have a pairing that is small but both are ballhawks who can flip the field for us. You're not gonna have a top defense with just 2 corners, but you can have a good defense if your safeties are on point on top of a good duo.
So safety requires Fuller to be healthy. And then we need one other to step up.
Also and btw the AD effect matters here. That is the effect that made Fowler work for a year. Plus our best positional coach is Henderson. So I think pressures should be there.
Overall I'm guessing a middle of the pack defense in scoring is what we're in for and that is due to a weakness on the ground. They're gonna yield a lot of drives due to that effect and more third and shorts than the other defenses, but scoring should be respectable.
