I think Rapp had talent for playing closer to the LOS. It seemed to be a common understanding that he was a very good tackler but poor in coverage.
I have no real criticism of Rapp and I'm sad to see him go because he was experienced with the Rams.
Instead, as the other poster pointed out, he was used poorly by the D-coach. A poor coach/manager/leader fails to use the strengths of his players and forces them to perform in their area of weaknesses. For a few years Rapp has been known to be weak in coverage but he continued to be used there over and over. Why didn't that get fixed by either cutting him, trading him, or changing the scheme? The only reason I can think of is that there were bigger continuing challenges for Morris to fix and the coaching staff hoped that Rapp would get better in coverage.
Careful, Coy.
You are stepping dangerously close to criticism of Morris. That cannot be allowed by certain posters that get triggered by such blasphemy. Lol.
It's sad how upset some get over another poster's opinions that differ from theirs on a message board created for people to express their opinions! lol
It's not healthy to get all worked up like that! lol
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
