Rapp was drafted in 2019. And Brandon Staley was hired in 2020.
That, IMO, is what happened to Rapp. He was a good fit for the defense that Wade Phillips ran in 2019 but not a particularly good fit for the defense that Staley ran. (Or that Morris runs.)
Rapp was OK in 2020 & 2021 as a box safety, playing mostly in nickel and dime situations. But then that role shriveled up with the signing of BWagz and the emergence of Ernest Jones since both guys could play all three downs. (It was different the previous 2 years with the Troy Reeders of the world manning one of the ILB positions: it was pretty easy to take them out on obvious passing downs.)
