Absolutely, Gaines made first contact and his penetration was the main reason that blew up the play.

However I am positive the Rams can replace him adequately either with a draft pick or some player already on the roster.
In the grand scheme I would like the Rams to draft 1-2 huge bodied run stoppers over the next two drafts or in free agency 2024.
Stopping the run and generating pressure up the middle is key in this league.
