It's not like we can't replace them in this draft. We can. But, we are losing vets that know our system and played well in it to guys coming out of college with no NFL experience at all.
The Fangio scheme is all over college, actually, it's also similar to the Saban scheme in terms of match-man. It's zone until
you identify the routes...then it is man - it's not zone at all.
Saban and Fangio terminology is a little different but the concepts are the same and there tons of big schools that play
it so they are more NFL-ready than in the past, used to be only a few were ready to play.
And it is not just the coverages--its how the defensive line plays, the gap and a half, you can get college guys coming in
who can do it---they don't have to be taught.
So, sure, there is still a learning curve but rookies are playing more and more around the league--you can search
by snap counts and see.
So, it's not certain to be a disaster.
