Martz was simply fantastic and got players to play at the highest level. He motivated. They were prepared. And he put them in position to use their talents. In effect, his scheme did have a lot to do with the Rams success during those years. He found ways to create favorable matches with the talent and put them in position to succeed. I feel he was the most important piece to the puzzleby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
1) While I grant Fisher was a better coach in other areas, on offense he is historically bad. The most predictable offense and a completely unprepared unit with little in the arsenal of how to create offensive opportunity 2) Greg Robinson - Simply a guy that couldn't be trusted and an already vanilla limited offense got dummied down even more. Plus, the number of times a back or tight end hby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I feel if this was a criminal trial and the evidence was presented and the criteria was not just Beyond a reasonable doubt, but beyond all doubt (which is what I feel should be required for death penalty and everybody on the jury had to go to jail for manslaughter if we turned out to be wrong) That the jury would be out in 2 minutes with a guilty verdict (that he didn't do as good of job as Mby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Can you imagine, the down that success is needed to maintain the ball and try to score, you bench the best player on the team, maybe one of the best in the NFL in favor of Benny Cunningham? It is no wonder the Rams were the worst team in NFL history on 3rd down? It was like, we don't care whether we make it or now. Love the decision to use Gurley on 3rd downs, but to me, it should have beby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
staggering facts and I remember Foles doing well before Fisher, doing poorly with Fisher, and having some good games last year after Fisher. What went on last year with that offense is something I have not seen in the NFL in more than 10 years. Most predictable offense that I can remember No space for Gurley because of the way it was constructed Lacking of any energy Lacking of fundamby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Good players do not mean good results nor do great players guarantee great results. you have to put come up with a plan on how to use the talent and put players in positions to make plays and mcVay has taken 2 poor performers (Golf and Gurley) and made them look like pro bowlers.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
It was the biggest play of the game and the Austin fake make it go!by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
and Gurley. If anybody else gets touches, it should be Davis. Always have playmakers in the game. Last year Benny Cunningham playing for Gurley hurt the team on 3rd down because there was no threat. That would be the same with these other guys.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He was #2 player yesterday in my opinion behind Gurley.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Patience to what. Every play last year, the defense knew exactly what was happening. One of Gurleys comments about receiving was it is easier to make 1 guy miss than 11. That is what it was last year. 9 in the box and 4 or 5 of them in the back field on most plays. Simply put, when you run, you shouldn't have 11 guys on you right away. There should be space. What we are seeing now wby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He is so good at so many things. 1) Offense is motivated 2) He has developed their skill sets / fundamentals 3) He has developed a scheme 4) He is excellent at realizing the strengths of players and putting them in positions to use their ability 5) He does a great job of space management and creating space for players 6) He evolves each week and builds on a theme from the previous week 7by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
so so key The offense doesn't have to dummy down anything. I don't care if Whitworth only has a couple of years left. By making that move, you give Goff confidence in himself and allows him to develop. Had Fisher and Robinson stayed in place. Goff would be Sam Bradford like and never would get a chance to be a good player. Change the parameters around him, good offensive coaching, aby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
While Benny Cunningham can go 2 years and not score a touchdown, have 3 plays of 20+ yards, and pose actually no threat to the opposing defense, Austin has to be accounted for on every play. The way he is being used is brilliant. He has some key runs in that game, but even more important is how he stretches out the defense horizontally and gives Gurley more space. The 53 yard pass to Gurlby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Austin was more than a factor. The Rams don't win that game without him. He was a huge factor. Key runs and he keeps the field spread. And lastly, Gurley's 53 yard reception was set up on the fake to Austin who has the respect of the defense on fake handoffs.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
To me, I have not seen that burst yet between the 3 and 7 yards where he can kick it in 4th gear from 1st gear and skip 2nd and 3rfd. I saw that in those first 4 games as a rookie at times and really despite his success, have not seen that just yet.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
That is a given and history has proven it. Foles played well with Eagles - goes to Rams plays horrific - goes to Chiefs plays well Keenum - plays poorly with Rams - goes to Vikings and does well last week and lastly Goff looks like somebody that has never played football before last year and comes back and does a good job in the first 3 games.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
but Watkins is more valuable than all of them.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
This week when Austin goes in motion and they give it to Austin early and fake it to him and give it to Gurley later. Later in the game, love to see a fake to both and the deep ball to Watkins. It may work. Of course, offensive line has to hold up for that to develop as it could lead to sack, but I think it will be there.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He was a dummy and never made dozens of big plays in the NFL. A couple of things on Austin: 1) He never had any offensive coaching. 2) He isn't getting the playing time now that he has the offensive coaching. We see what differences it makes with Goff and Gurley. Hard telling what Austin could do. Given that, I don't see how you can pay a guy if he can't pass up Watkins, Kupp,by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree. I think Davis could be a homerun hitter and is By Far the best threat to make a big play at the runningback position in years. I don't know how the rest of the league could not see it either and how the Rams got him. He is a significant upgrade from Benny Cunningham on his ability to carry the ball 15-20 times and deliver a couple of big plays. We have not had a true #2 back wiby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Love Martz but disappointed he cannot give credit where credit is due and had another bad media comment. Our new offensive guy is doing great! It takes nothing away from what Martz did - if anything - it brings light to how coaching can all of a sudden make a difference in players results See Goff and Gurley (Last year versus this year) Martz should embrace this success of the Rams thby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He is the only guy on the team that can carry the ball 15+ times and be a threat to make a big play. Austin can't handle that workload Brown is not a threat. Davis is an upgrade to Benny Cunningham as a guy that can do that - be a threat to make a big playby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I have never seen a player elevate a team like Rodgers can. That team is bad without him. It is really unbelievable what he does with so little.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
At least somebody at work told me that. I have not verified.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He created more positives than negatives by a significant margin. I always want the upside unless the downside is too much. I would stick with Austin.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Fisher will make a Qb worse than he really is. While I wouldn't want case as a Qb and don't think this is the rule but more the exception, there is no way he is as bad as he was with the Rams. This is a trend and pattern. We saw the same thing with foles ast year. He pkayed much better with Chiefs and played much better with the Eagles before the Rams.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
The torture of watching a boring team is over. Another great thing about this coach is he took the one positive on offense and kept it and replaced the other 95%.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Rare is it that you let one player do both, but he isn't getting the volume of plays as a WR so go ahead and use him. I will say this thought; the one thing Fisher did well on offense is the option sweep to Austin or fake to Austin and give it to Gurley. Running that play a few times a game is significant and normally gives Gurley space as the defense has to be concerned about Austin.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
While Watkins is an elite player, when healthy, he has never shown the history of being healthy. When looking at Watkins circumstances, been injured on a bad offensive team that runs all the time, what he did was remarkable averaging 1000 yards a season for those first 2 seasons before being injured in year 3 and missing half the season. When you watch Watkins plays, the eyes don't lie either,by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
