Playing Gurley on 3rd down makes sense

Can you imagine, the down that success is needed to maintain the ball and try to score, you bench the best player on the team, maybe one of the best in the NFL in favor of Benny Cunningham?
It is no wonder the Rams were the worst team in NFL history on 3rd down?
It was like, we don't care whether we make it or now. Love the decision to use Gurley on 3rd downs, but to me, it should have been a given.
