1 Better WRs 2 No Robinson 3 Much Better Coaching These are the reasons Goff will be much better. And they are all big reasons. This is a season where you see change the environment around a QB and it completely changes the opportunity for success. I rarely see a team address 3 significant issues so well like the Rams did this off season. Best I have seen since 1999 when Timmermanby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
with the Rams. I know is well documented that he was a train wreck, but I actually think it was worse than advertised. Because what is missed is how he limits the offense. He always gets help from a tight end or runningback and as a play caller you have to be careful on what you call limiting the offense.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Savvy, Great Hands, Alertness, Toughness, but he still has some size and some ability to separate and get open He is simply looking like he will be a star.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Check, check, check Note, I qualify and say "offensive" coaching as I thought overall it wasn't bad, but horrific on offense Just attacked the 3 biggest problems of the team aggressively and got it done.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He had no coaching last year.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
This shows how much a difference an environment around a quarterback (Coaching and Receivers) can change a career. It is obvious (Add coaching and add playmakers) and the QB all of a sudden is a much better player.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Luck is a very good quarterback, but he made his bed when he sucked up all the salary cap money. The results these past few years have been very underwhelming. But he has his money. For me, I rather have a great career and great money Than an average career and great money + some more moneyby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
The best offseason in a decade was without a couple of high picks. First time trade and free agency was utilized to bring in top players.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He demanded so much money it impacted this career as they had little salary cap room to put anything around him. What started out as a promising career has actually went backwards after his big contract. I wonder if that bigger contract was worth going from being one of the top QBs in the NFL versus somebody who isn't even on the radar?by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
At some point teams have to let the player sit without pay when they don't honor contracts. I don't know if it has ever been done, but some team needs to do it at some point. and if the player comes back and signs, there IS NOT MAKEUP SALARY for the time missed. Basically a dock in pay. I am by no means pro management or pro owner. I get that they make so much money that the players wby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
After watching Reid take down the Patriots on the road, I just continue to be amazed how he does it year after year. Throughout his career players play at a higher level for Reid and he gets better results. He has never really had a top tier QB, but made them more than they probably should be. You see Smith playing better than ever. You see McNabb overachieving with the Eagles. The Chiby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I get business is business, but it never made no sense why the cat and mouse game goes on so long. It is completely unnecessary and typically both sides lose more than they gain.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
In 1996, Marshall Faulk had a 3.0 YPC and had only 587 yards in 13 games played. In fact, Faulk never gained more than 4.1 YPC until he came to the Rams. But coaching makes a difference. Gurley never had a chance with the way Fisher had that offense structured. No space whatsoever. Now, I will say the eyes Gurley did not look like the same player since those first 4 games, but I belieby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Actually, for many players that is how I feel. Nobody wants to honor contracts. When players don't play up to the contract, I never hear them say, here is a check back for me underpaying the contract. It is always a one way point of view. Of course, the teams can cut the player, but they are out of signing bonus money for players that underperform. But Donald does deserve a big pay dby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
To me, Austin showed enough these past years under the Fisher offensive oppression to have another look. With better space management and less predictability and better teaching of route running he may be a much better player as well.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams best teams ever were great because of WR strength Bruce Holt Hakim Proehl The team put up 500 points 3 straight seasons, won a superbowl with those 4 WRs. They were able to win without Marshall Faulk when he was injured during that time period. 6-3 and scored over 30 points 6 times. Marc Bulger went 18-4 as a QB when Kurt Warner was out. They had a great offensive coach thaby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
While I agree that the holdouts are tiresome, the problem is that so many NFL careers end on a dime. I would argue, however, by holding out, a player increases his chances for injury. Practices train the player to play the game and take the hits. I feel Orlando Pace's career went down hill quickly after he started holding out every year. I personally wouldn't have voted him into the Haby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
So funny - many here act like he is the worst player on the roster, but the reality is that he made more big plays than any Ram player on offense these past few years and is somebody that the defense has to account for. I get a big kick out of how people act like Benny Cunningham is the next Marshall Faulk, so many of them, and Austin is a nothing and the reality is that Cunningham had 0 toby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Davis should play if Gurley is unable to play ever. As for as spot playing, maybe he doesn't have the intangibles to be a role player, but as far as being a guy that carries the ball and can make a play, he wins easily as the #2 and is a significant upgrade from Benny Cunningham in his ability to make a big play. As far as spot filling, if he doesn't understand all the assignments with receby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Because ability to get open and find space. Alertness. Toughness to catch in traffic . Great hands. I have always felt welker was one of the best in the nfl during his prime. He put up big time production year after year. Kupp to me may be a bigger more rounded welker. With all those positives. Plus ability to do it all and okay outside. Fitzgerald type. That may be a pipe dream sby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
and the results were vastly different with Amendola versus Welker.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Danny Amendola is a great story. An overachiever that was a superbowl WR from the practice squad. Still, He is one of the more overrated players in the league. Some use to compare him to Wes Welker who put up 5 thousand yard seasons when Amendola has never had a season of 700 yards even. Welker would lead the NFL in receptions as well. Simply put: Welker was a far superior receiver whenby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
but I for the first time in more than a decade believe the Rams will be a competitive team and more exciting to watch. Very optimistic. Hit all 3 areas 1) New Offensive Coaches 2) New Left Tackle 3) Added playmaking WRs (Actually, I think 2) Finally used Free Agency and Trades and it changed everything.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
If the Rams had another guy that could be a player maker behind Gurley, hanging onto Cunningham as a #3 role, utility guy would be ok and maybe even ideal. But I don't see it in Brown. Given those parameters and the fact that something could happen to Gurley via injury, I much rather have a guy with the potential of some big plays versus a spot role player. I go back to 0 touchdowns in 2 sby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
And qbs will look bad in most cases. Having playmakers make all the difference. Who all sat out?by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
In just a few preseason games I have seen more potential from Davis than I saw I. 4 seasons from Cunningham. Will he be able to do,all the other things well like Cunningham is the question as he was a reliable blocker that did the little things well. But as for as making game changing plays which you want from a number 1 or number 2 back, Davis wins in landslide. Remember Cunningham stats ofby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
The media would bait him and he would say stupid stuff. That is beyond question. But I love Martz. But as I say at work when I talk about my employees that work for me. Many have flaws but have extreme talent in some areas. When I manage them, I try to minimize the flaws and maximize the positives. The Rams front offense failed to do that with Martz and blew an opportunity to be a playby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I am the biggest Martz fan but he missed the boat here. This new coach has been tremendous! The difference between last year and this year is night and day! He must not have seen the last preseason game and all of last year. The Quarterback is so much better as is the entire offense.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
That was a treat to watch and I will be surprised if he is not a very good player. I actually think he may be a guy people will be picking up in fantasy football as the season goes on. The Rams will go from not having a single player other than Gurley on rosters to multiple players. This is such a difference.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
offense. I have never seen a coach strong in many areas and completely helpless in one major area. The worst part of it all, he could have went and gotten help and delegated on that weakness, but he choose to be stubborn and the results were some of the worst offense in NFL history.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
