Rampage, agreed, the NFL screwed up on this one. Either a bad interpretation by Boger or a bad rule. Or both. Still curious as to understand EXACTLY what was wrong and why, but maybe I'll never find out. I'm probably just distracting myself on this one play to mask my disappointment over the Rams loss in this game...!by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Well, if the defense was offside, I think technically an infraction occurred "before the play" so they just march off five yards against the defense, and the holding call is ignored because the play "never happened." But yes-- if there was a play from scrimmage with both offensive holding and defensive holding, then, yes-- they re-play the down from the previous spot.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
RFIP, I certainly meant nothing personal, I'm just trying to get a step-by-step understanding of what happened. As I say, I was in a crowded sports bar, so yeah-- Blandino's explanation was not "to my approval" because I did not hear it. If I'm able to find a replay of the game with sound, I will definitely check it out. A basic question I still have (again, because I coulby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Mike Pereira is usually pretty awesome and thorough on these things,... wish I could get an explanation from him.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
RFIP, help me out on this question, then. How many times have we heard that ominous phrase, "During the return....". By definition, when the fouls are "during the return,' they occur AFTER possession has been established by the receiving team. Hypothetical example: Pharoh Cooper catches a kickoff at his own 6 yard line. He returns it to his own 38. However, during hisby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
RFIP, I can't imagine this is the correct interpretation. I was in a loud sports bar, and so I did not have the chance to hear what Blandino said about the situation. Anybody know where the holding infraction took place? The replays seemed to suggest the holding penalty occurred around the 20 or the 22. Again, WITHOUT enforcement of the P.I. penalty on Washington, this one single penaltyby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
The above link was closest I could find to this scenario. It's the last rule in the article.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think your hypothetical scenario is completely right, Headslap. I can only hope that Boger screwed up the call. Because if they enforced the rule correctly, then it's the worst rule ever. How can one conceive of a rule where committing a personal foul becomes a huge advantage to your own team??? I really hope this play gets the attention it deserves from the rest of the NFL. Ok so "blasphemy" may have been overstating it a bit, lol... It's been so long since we've had so much good news that it's hard to keep track! Can't wait for tomorrow, looking forward to the national recognition that this team is legitby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Blasphemy! A half dozen replies to this thread, and no one has mentioned John Fassel yet? "Bones" has helped keep the Rams consistently near the top on special teams. Coverage on kick returns and punt returns has been solid. Bones deserve some of the credit for Hekker's spectacular career. McVay, philipps, Fassel... can't ever remember the Rams having such elite coaching inby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com

One more tip: if you are using uber after the game, take your time to stroll away from the stadium for awhile first. If you walk for about 20 minutes away from the stadium before calling uber, you should be fine and won't have higher rates.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Great thorough analysis Lenny. I agree with a lot of your points. Goff would be a lot worse without McVay doing so many things to make his life easier. Perhaps Lady Luck was on our side for a change, but I think you underestimate how overwhelming the Rams victory was last week. Even if all the bounces had gone against us we still would have won that game by 20 points or more. We utterby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
I went to two games at the Coliseum last year, and I found that getting a ride from Uber was ridiculously convenient and cheap. Beats battling the crowds on the bus or metro. Beats paying a ton for nearby parking. Our strategy was to drive into L.A. and park my car two to three miles away from the stadium, then take an Uber to get within close walking distance. I parked in a garage iby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Re-watched that play, never noticed that Kupp was waving at Everett to keep going. Yet another reason to love Kupp's play, as if we need another one. He truly is like a coach on the field.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Here's a link to it I'm looking forward to the debate: which Rams Superbowl-winning team more of a shocker, 1999 or 2017?by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
I always just enjoyed watching this 2015 highlight reel, but it's interesting to re-watch while considering his recent struggles. One thing that jumps out to me: three of his monster runs-- vs. Cards, 49ers, and Packers-- nobody laid a hand on him until he was well into the second level. Positives: great speed when he gets to the second level real nice jump cut (at times) great deteby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
I hear ya, New Mexico. Hope it's an oasis and not a mirage. Something about McVay, though... seems like the real deal.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Greetings, Rams Friends. We have endured such a painful journey over the past 14 years. For me, sometimes it seemed like each year was more heartbreaking than the last. Wandering in the desert, shambling under the hot sun, dying of thirst, nothing but sand as far as the eye can see. Until now. We haven't found just a simple cup of water, mind you. We have stumbled upon a majestby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com

Which begs the question....why not? How come the Rams coaches "do not have access to replays in away games?" Never heard that excuse before. And for those of you who did not see the horrible call on the Browns fumble... check it out. Truly awful. And an interesting weird quirk in the rulebook, no "visual evidence" to overturn something glaringly obvious.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com

Game report from the poster formerly known as XXXIV_win (help from admins-- where'd all my other posts go?) Maybe this post will get lost in the (entirely justified) hysteria around here. But to distract y’all from the Rams’ dumpster fire, here are some random observations from the stadium: 1. I snuck down and got really close to the Rams players during pre-game warmups.
