Poor guy. I personally think he tried his best but just did not have the mental capacity to make it in the NFL.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
So nobody on the show asked about why it wasn't Rams ball at the one after Gurley stepped out of bounds while maintaining contact with the football...?by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Excellent point, speed. I hate the touchback rule, but... I think you are definitely right, the Seahawks DB's were primed and waiting for Gurley to reach out for the pylon-- they probably studied it and practiced it. Judging from Gurley's post-game comments, he will be more careful about that move from now on. Man, I just can't get over how big that play was.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
AH- HAH! So you admit it! Guilty as charged! Guilty, guilty, guilty! An "attention grabber"? Why don't you just start a thread titled "Looking ahead to the 2018 draft" and then fill up your post with all sorts of reasonable opinions, just to mess with us!?! :booby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteNewMexicoRam Pause a second and think about it. Any other time a ball in play ( no active possession) goes out of the defense's end zone, the defense gets possession of the ball. Punt, KO, missed FG. And this rule is consistent with that. So, while it sucks for the offense when it happens, the answer is to hang onto that pigskin and get over that goal line. I think they should keep theby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com

Sammy: "Gimme the the <bleep> ball!!" Rams: "We are continuing to evaluate our target distribution." Seriously though... credit to McVay for how he handled this. That guy's optimism is relentless. To further explain: It is December 23, 1984. A 14 year old kid (me) begs his Dad to get tickets for the Rams wild card playoff game against the Giants because the game will be blacked out on local TV. After the Rams lose in excruciating fashion (a handoff to Dwayne Crutchfield? Really??) I look at my uncle, who was there too. He looks back at me in this matter-of-fact way and says, &quby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Boooooooo. RamFanEsq, I agree with everything you wrote. And I know you put in all sorts of valid explanations that you still have faith and optimism about 2017. But the subject line... sorry, it just gave me flashbacks. Not the good kind, the Rams-PTSD kind. After 5 games, a post about how good we are gonna be next year? Quotereggae The first 1 looks like he has it. 2nd cant tell. 3rd looks like he lost it. I'm not sure. But I think they blew the call. Contact, reggae, contact! Not control! Lol. I am with ya of course rampage, sure looks like it should have been Rams ball at the one. Three angles all suggest the same thing. Just wish that middle shot could be advanced in super slo-mo.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com

I hear you New Mexico. I have watched the replays many times from different angles and I have not yet seen something absolutely 100% definitive. Was the small finger of his right hand still touching the ball the exact split-second his toe landed? Excruciatingly close.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree that Gurley lost possession of the ball before he stepped out of bounds. In other words: I agree that Gurley was no longer "in control" of the ball when he stepped out of bounds. HOWEVER-- was he still IN CONTACT with the ball WHILE his foot was out of bounds? According to the 2017 NFL rulebook: Item 2: Loose Ball. A loose ball is out of bounds when it touches a bounby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Hey Craig Matson, I disagree with you about the need for biting one's arm off... check out the photo I posted which shows Gurley's foot out of bounds while his fingers are still in contact with the ball. I also disagree about the sanity of the rule whereby if "ball touches pylon results in touchback." This writer feels the same way. I think a case can be made for both sides, but Iby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes, I believe that the rules do not require "possession" of the ball, just contact. If the ball is touching a player, and the player is out of bounds, then the ball is out of bounds. I'm pretty sure that's the letter of the rule, and if so, the refs did indeed blow the call.by XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
OK, Here are two photos (from my iphone) I found of Gurley's left toe out of bounds while his fingertips are still in contact with the football. By rule, at that particular instant the play should be ruled as out of bounds at the one, Rams ball. The second photo in particular, if you zoom in, provides the best visual evidence that it should have been Rams ball at the one yard line. If someby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemax He at least gave us hope. Certainly, a long way to go. But there's promise. After the Skins game, I was much more concerned. This last drive was so much better than how he did against the Skins obviously. There will be plenty of other opportunities.[/quote Agreed. Frankly, I was concerned that Goff would not be able to make it close with 1:07 left, and was pleasantly surprised bby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
Same rule applies to everyone, yes, but I personally would like to see the rule changed. I believe the rule was instituted to prevent teams from fumbling the ball toward the end zone, as the Raiders exploited the rule famously on the Holy Roller play. But as it stands now, I personally believe teams are punished excessively for losing possession of the ball right at the pylon. Check out the Hoby XXXIVwin - RamsFootballFans.com
