A good teaching moment for your son. You should have told him that is how life is. You have to do your best, control what you can control, and just keep pushing forward. Dwelling on coulda, shoulda, woulda is a waste of time. This isn't a video game where you can go back and start over. One of my sayings to my kids. Every day you get up and start making decisions....both good and baby Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRockRam Don't know what they're thinking with Havenstein. Could be he can play right guard with a full training camp. A couple years ago, they tried to switch Havenstein to RG and Jamon Brown to RT. That experiment failed. Does anyone remember if the failure was due to Brown not working at RT or Havenstein not working at RG?by Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteJamesJM Not sure what these % prognostications factor in. I believe they have their win probabilities for each of the remaining games. Based on those probabilities, they look at all scenarios for the remaining three games and give you the chance to make the playoff. When you picked the Rams to win against Dallas, that probability changes to 100% for Rams 0% for Dallas. Everything elsby Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
Thought for discussion. As we saw last night, the Rams are countering the tight 6 man front by running a receiver around the end. Woods had 2 and Reynolds had 3. Would it be wise to use either Gurley or Henderson in the WR position with Brown or Gurley as the RB. If the D counters by keeping another LB in the game, we have a RB lined up against a LB in the passing game. If they spread oby Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
I admit he is a very good pass defender. But he will cost you games. Last week he was beat for a TD, then did his El Matador routine on a long TD run. A defensive guy who says tacking is a business decision is ........( I can't write it here). That type of attitude rubs off on others. I want defensive players with an aggressive attitude. If we finish 10-6 and you assume we are 1-1 against SF & Seattle and 2-0 against Dallas and AZ, then I wouldn't consider it a successful year. That would mean of our 10 victories only 3 (NO, Dallas, and the SF/Seattle) victories would come against teams with winning records (Dallas may or not meet that requirement). And the NO victory was the first game after losing Brees so there is a cby Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
First off, I was at the opening day loss to the Raiders in 1979. We were behind the goal posts on the end opposite the torch. I witnessed at least 10 fights break out between the Raider and Ram fans. One was particularly brutal. As for those two teams, neither were playing good football until the end of the year. My original point is to win out and demonstrate that we are playing good fooby Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
I respect your view, but I say win all four games and prove we deserve to play with the "big boys". If we win all four, we are ready to make a run in the playoffs. If we can't beat Seattle or SF now, what are the odds we can beat 4 playoff teams in a row to become champions. I know there is an argument for just getting in and see how it works out. Not me. QuoteRams43 Let’s see if they can defeat both the Seahawks and the 49ers. If they somehow can pull that off then the Rams are legit. Absolutely. Using their odds to win each game, we have a little less than 1 in 17 chance of winning them all. Don't like those odds, but as they say, "That's why we play the games!"by Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
For fun let's say we have the following (generous) odds of winning against these teams: Seattle - 50% Dallas - 66.7% SF - 50% AZ - 100% That means we have a 1 in 6 chance (16.7%) of winning out. Put Dallas at 50% and it 1 in 8 (12.5%) of winning out. Tough row to hoe, BUT I HOPE WE DO!!!!!by Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
If we win out, we are ready for the playoffs and all we need is one Minn loss to get there. I doubt SF is going to lose all three (NO, LAR, SEA). I do think we could beat SF, but it would take a herculean effort in all three phases. While I would love for us to win out, I do not believe that will happen. Breaks my heart to say, but we just aren't that good of a team this year. :censoredby Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteLMU93 I could be mistaken but I believe, in the unlikely scenario this happens, that the tiebreaker comes down to conference record (because they would have split head-to-head). If the Rams win out they would be 9-3 in the NFC and SF (if they lost to the Saints, Rams and Seahawks) would be 8-4. Again, unlikely. But it is on the table. I wasn't suggesting we cut them, just pointing out those are the only three we can cut and gain decent cap space without a lot dead money. The only one I think they will cut is Weddle. He didn't play anywhere near his contract. The only one above those three that seems likely is Clay Matthews. $2M dead money, but $3.75M savings. I would do that also. The 2019 numbers showing how many are signed at different levels include Brady. The 2020 $109M vs $55M comparison only includes $6.7M for Brady, but the article I linked to indicated he would be signed at a higher number. Rams $109M committed to top five players for 2020......Patriots $55M......hmmmmmm! A little misleading because it doesn't include Brady, but even if the sign him for $30M, they are still well below the Rams. If you've never looked at team's salary structure, it is interesting. Dickerson vs Faulk comparison is not fair. Faulk was part of a complete offense. Defenses didn't have to just stop Faulk. I can't believe McVay doesn't have a specific play that will take advantage of Peters in a given defensive look. He'll get Peters to come off his man on an underneath pump fake and Peters' man will be running down the sideline all by himself. Hopefully that will be Cooks.by Papatrey - RamsFootballFans.com
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is it depends on how our defense is playing. If the game remains tight because our D is limiting the opponent's scoring, McVay can emphasize the run over pass if he wants. But if we are down 2+ touchdowns, he will need to rely more upon the passing game. Our D has been very good since picking up Ramsey, but the Ravens are going to challenge them.
