Running Against 6 Man Fronts

December 09, 2019 03:33AM
Thought for discussion.

As we saw last night, the Rams are countering the tight 6 man front by running a receiver around the end. Woods had 2 and Reynolds had 3.

Would it be wise to use either Gurley or Henderson in the WR position with Brown or Gurley as the RB. If the D counters by keeping another LB in the game, we have a RB lined up against a LB in the passing game. If they spread out the 6, then the RB will have more room to run inside the tackles.

Or do we need to keep the play for the WR so the look is the same? I just think Gurley or Henderson would have done more damage on those 5 runs last night than the receivers did even though they averaged 12 yds/carry between them.
