It's about getting one of those guys who can be elite. There's a ton of bigs running around in the passing game nowadays that don't really accomplish much outside of a few plays a game when coverage misses them.
Higs is a nice TE but he's a blocking TE who happens to have some straight line speed for wheel and go routes. What we need is an upgrade in the passing game. In 2020 two TE sets help with protections but Everett was pulling a WR off the field every time we ran 12.
And IMO the worst thing about all this is that Hopkins was supposedly advanced in the passing game and I would think if that is true he'd be capable of pushing Everett for snaps. Never happened. He didn't even push Mundt for snaps and Mundt had a bad season he seemed to me to lose a lot more than last year when he was in there.
But I'm with you that we really need a top TE. I'd kill to see us finally solve that. TE is just our kryptonite I guess.
