What is on film is not the other team winning. That does happen. But what is going on right now with Jared Goff is opportunities right there in front of him and he doesn't see them. In some cases he sees it and decides not to risk it. But these are throws you have to make as a top QB even a good QB. There are too many examples in just that past game vs Seattle. So many. He's lost a ton of confidence and all but I'd try to get him back on track behind a better line. I'd just add another vet to compete with him (my preference is Minshew but there are other options this offseason) and I'd also draft a developmental type. Re: the dev draft choice whoever it is has to be a quick processor with good vision and accuracy. Scrappier the better, IMO that type of persby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Our QB position is a mess. They're not playing well. Neither of them. Opinion doesn't really matter here. I'm fine with everyone being on cloud nine from beating Seattle. But let's keep it realistic. Goff didn't ball for us. He did just enough to get us the win which I certainly appreciate and respect but I'm not gonna heap accolades on the guy for doing just enough. Same goes for Wolfoby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I can see why the OL picks up when he goes into the game. :thumbsup This rookie is our title hopes dudes. Hope he can stay healthy.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
And I do find myself thinking we might lose that 2022 first rounder if they make a move for a QB but it would be nice to be back in that late round 1 range again. It's been a long time since I looked forward to the early part of a draft and I miss that.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think most of these guys make things up. Stephen A doesn't have good NFL contacts. Good chance it's him putting two and two together. He's right I am sure but I do think he's lying about the source.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
1. Stuff Green Bay's run game. If Rodgers has a run game it's over because they will move the ball, control the clock, and wear our defense out then put up points we can't match. 2. Disciplined back end. Rodgers sees almost everything so if you have a miscue there's a good chance you're gonna get burned. This is a huge matchup for our secondary in fact more demanding than Buffalo was in terby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
You could say the same thing about a handful of other teams whose GMs almost surely called Houston the moment he came available. I guarantee Snead was on the phone with them and rightly so. It's just we don't have enough to offer them to get it done.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJamesJM But did Wolford have any choice on that play when he got injured? I only saw the play during the game.. then the replay or two they showed but those were focused on the hit itself and not the action that led up to it. Seemed to me, (a replay of the ENTIRE play might make me see it differently), that he had no real 'slide' opportunity. Fair question but I don't think it matterby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff's confidence is in the dumpster. Will he rebound like we tend to think he will if they improve at Center and he's got good protections? That's not a given. But more importantly here is that the other QB is superior to Goff. So that's why I don't doubt it at all. What I do doubt is that the Texans are interested in that trade. The good thing here is you will have a ton of QBs availaby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Before you say Goff balled out. He was terrible man. Wolford was not good either. Wolford missed an open option that could have been a big play, he threw a deep out late and it almost got picked, and then he got hurt because he didn't slide. Looked like a rookie outing. Goff made a couple plays but he missed a ton of open options and some were big plays. He made poor decisions with theby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay is held in esteem around the league. People have been talking like he was Goff's secret reason for success for years. I don't know that interest is going to be there given all that plus his contract. The best option for the Rams is to improve the OL, bring in competition for Goff, and hope his play improves for either keeping or trading him.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Whatever McVay decides is going to happen. He's the boss. So if you don't get the nod that's what it is and if I'm Goff I'm telling my family AND Silver to butt out of the situation. Goff has to own his play this season. He has not been himself as a bottom third QB. Get over your ego and control your sources before you do damage to your relationship with the head coach and organization.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I would not rule them out in fact. You don't want this beast of a player ending up eating your QB in the NFC playoffs the next year...by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I do agree there's a point where you want to cap his carries a bit. But the thing is this offense is NOT going to beat Green Bay in Green Bay in January without Akers going off. IMO we have a chance as long as Akers is healthy. Well that and as long as our defense can contain the Packers' offense. A healthy Akers moves the chains and keeps Rodgers on the sideline too, so I am hoping for susby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Floyd was a high end pick who hadn't lived up to his billing. In this scheme and under this staff he finally did. Now he's grown into a monster. Fowler was a plus blindside edge rusher for us. Floyd has been elite. He is a difference maker in the run game and moves all over and gets consistent pressure now in the passing game too. He's also rangy and routinely drops and covers in the flatby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
And pray he doesn't get hurt. You can't be careful with backs, those guys can get hurt on any play so just roll the dice and go as far as we can with this guy. Oh and BTW note that we get Hendy back possibly if we make it past Green Bay.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Right now we need a guy who can hand it off and make some throws occasionally to keep the chains moving. This offense does not require an elite QB and in fact we might be able to go all the way with a QB who can play within the system. Wolford's biggest liability is his arm strength, that is why he's a backup. But he can ball a bit and he knows this offense. Also with this offense it histby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Would ask the question of whether the rook needs to quit acting like a pretty princess when things don't go his way.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
In fact I think Akers is going to run wild in Green Bay. So yeah I agree the QB job this postseason is going to be running the offense by handing off and making occasional throws to complement that ground game. And that my friend is a winning formula.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay has the highest of standards. He's not as aggressive as Gruden with his QBs, but I am sure he is in Goff's rear end on details and game results and improvement and maybe that started wearing on Goff. Especially after the Miami game. And if Goff's confidence was hurt by that ok now pick yourself back up and compete and win that job and get us a Super Bowl victory.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
If and when it comes down to that he will do it. He's not the type to mess around. Look at last offseason.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think he's going to be able to handle them. Nor will his flashy little sidekick in his tights and overworked biceps.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
His ball was fluttering on a lot of throws and I'm sure a week will help but if we can win this game that thumb might be way better for the NFC Championship. The nice thing here is try to rest him and if Wolford can't handle things (which would surprise me) you have Goff available. But if he hits that thing on a helmet one time I have to think we're down a QB which is not a good thing.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
He knew the Bears were likely to lose to the Saints so yes I agree. As to the Packers it's very simple: stuff their run game. Do that and our defense will eat Aaron Rodgers. Our defense knows our scheme well. Rams are a terrible matchup for the Packers for similar reason. We will run the ball on them most likely.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Not a fit for our current needs IMO. We have possession options in spades.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
IMO that's the single most important element in today's NFL for the QB position. Teams are so varied in how they can attack on defense, so specialized in getting pressure and removing what you do well. As a QB if you're a guy who can read fast and quickly dish that ball there will always be a job for you.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Because he is our title hopes. We know we have a defense that will keep us in games. If we also have a run game we are going to beat the other team at a high percentage clip. Without him I think this team is done. And there are some other guys who would have that effect of course like Whit. But Akers' ability to stay healthy is going to be the story of how far we go.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
