There were a lot of people who really like OBO last year and were disappointed when we didn't take him early and thrilled we got in in the 5th round. He fell because of concerns about the foot. If he was truly healthy he was a 2nd round talent and if you gave him another 2 or 3 inches.
Right now all we have to go on is the scouting which is mixed and there are concerns about his pass defense,height and awareness. He seems like he was a bit raw coming out of college so it makes sense that he needed a year of seasoning even if he didn't have the foot problem. His 40 time was only 4.77 though perhaps the foot was an issue when he ran. He is a powerful man and hopefully a year of seasoning with more weight and speed training and coaching to help him develop more pass rushing moves will make him ready. Despite the flaws he was very productive as a player.
I think he as a shot to be special but will he blow it up this year? That may be a bit much to ask but with the Vets we now have on defense it is bound to help young players like OBO who scouting report stated he was a hard worker and a smart player. If he was considered a powerful player before a year of weight training I can only imagine what he is now. I think it is right to be hopeful that he becomes special but to realize that we are not talking about a high round pick but a guy taken later in the draft. I am sure in camp he will get a chance to be show what he is and how far he has come. At a minimum he should be a special teams player of very high quality this year at best a high quality situational rusher which would solve a big need.
