I predict 7-9 or 8-8. But the issue is not going to be QB play. Keenum is plenty steady even if only "average" so to speak. He's by no means a playoff QB. But neither is Goff ready to be thrown to the wolves. For one thing, like most young QBs, he holds onto the ball too long. Some of this is just processing things too slowly at first. I don't want Goff getting knocked around becausby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
1) The Oline depth is actually pretty good imo. It's just that when you put in ALL #2s and 3s you're going to have issues. Hopefully you're never putting in more than 1 (maybe 2) subs and the starters beside them help out. So I don't think what we saw as a unit on the Oline (with the 2nds and 3rds) was indicative of an actual game situation. 2) What I see in Joyner is frustration. They're moviby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think we're going to see Keenum playing bad. We'll simply see Keenum being Keenum, game in and game out; he does what he does, and can't do what he can't do. He's not going to escape a rush with quick movement or his legs, for instance. And he won't win games with his arm. He'll manage games and get the ball out quickly. This is unlikely to change, and Fisher knows it. So that's whyby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Dang LA. Now I have to go back and watch the games again to watch Higbee block (or lack thereof, which is your perspective). Hope it is not QUITE as bad as you paint it. If it is as bad, I wonder if it has anything to do with his knee not being fully healed. I think he favors it just a bit.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I have no doubt that part of the reason that some were cut today, and others have been kept but will be cut a week from now, has to do with Preseason game 4. That is, they need a certain complement of players to avoid playing starters or injured guys that they don't want to play. So while for some they are going to get one more chance to show something, for others it is mostly logistics andby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I've read a lot of posts that says essentially that the deck was stacked against Goff. He was never given a fair chance to earn the starting the job. Didn't get enough time with the 1's, etc. When did the conventional wisdom change from when it is ALWAYS best to give a rookie QB at least 1 year holding a clipboard, and usually longer? I think I know the answer. It was when FA was introduced aby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
You nailed it right down the line. And thanks for bringing up that this was the first road game for a lot of these kids and it was against the world champs to boot. And frankly, they showed why they're the champs. The Broncos will be formidable again this year. A lot of those youngsters had to have been awfully nervous.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Believe me when I say I wish I could be as calm and patient as you are about it. I hope you are right and I am wrong and that we're back here in a few weeks and I'm eating a crow dinner.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Even with my pessimistic attitude about the Rams and Fisher, I think the Rams will beat the Niners to open the season. I just the see the Rams as having the number for the NFC West, and I see the Niners as a work in progress with poor QB'ing. They have a pretty good RB in Hyde, but not much else on O. They've lost all their stars on D and are rebuilding. And I suspect the Rams are going to gby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I think for me, and a few others, while a WR not being able to get open is a concern, the far bigger concern is simply catching the football when it arrives. I have not seen our WRs unable to get open as a general rule except as we work out way down the roster in these preseason games. And, not every play for any team does a WR alwasys come open. Rather the issue is when a QB throws the balby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I get what you're saying. But all my conclusions are based on is what we can see as of now, as best we can see it. You could argue the same thing about practice. How can a coach know how a player will perform when the bullets actually fly? And yet, they have to choose anyway. And the same in Preseason. Between practice and preseason games they are going to select many of who will eventby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
GRob played 4 series. 1st series. Perfect. 2nd series. Perfect. 3rd series. Allowed some pressure in Pass Pro but his man didn't reach the QB. But otherwise was good. 4th series. Whiffed on one play (Pass pro) and his man definitely affected the play; but otherwise was good. He pass protected well against DE and OLB. In run blocking he pushed people around. Fisher's claim to fame is that the players love him. He is more of a father than a demanding HC. And no one wants to see their father go because they love him, through thick and thin. Think Bellichek would have permitted Quinn to fly to Rio, miss a few days of camp, to watch his sister in ONE race? No way. Bad message. Watch it on TV and stay here to keep getting better. But, if you want aby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I've heard the opinion that Spruce is only a slot guy (repeated it myself). But he was a WO in college when he rewrote the record books. Why can't he play WO in the NFL? He looks big enough, stout enough, and has sufficient speed to do that....I think.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Slight disagreement with your list. First, no way they cut Hill. He'll make the 53 and might even start opposite TruJ with Gaines out for a couple of weeks. I agree about Quick. The guy just isn't an NFL level WR; besides he also doesn't play STs. If he's not a starter, he has to play STs and he doesn't. Green, yeah, cut and resign if he can get through waivers. Like him a lot. Iby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I was and remain 100% with the FO in cutting both JLs.......James and Chris. Obviously diminished skills, and way too much money to boot. But that's football. It really takes a toll. Both of those guys are favorites of mine and am glad and proud that they were Rams.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I am not optimistic about the Rams as long as Fisher is in charge. So let's get that out of the way. Why the words "extension" and "Fisher" are even used in the same sentence is beyond me. Why after 4 lackluster years people still want to blame the Rams woes on Climate Change, Alien abductions, anything but what is clearly obvious, I don't know. It used to be in the NFL thatby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I've been saying it for weeks now. This team has 2 legimitate proven WRs, and 2 who probably will be good NFL WRs, and that's it. Britt and Austin are good. Cooper and Spruce I think will prove to be good (I think Spruce is going to be very good). After that we have a bunch of guys who couldn't catch a cold. But rookie WRs don't usually do much. I don't think Snead or Fisher have aby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Prescott has look great. But, preseason is preseason. We'll see how it goes when the D's get complicated and he's facing some great pass rushers. But I predict he'll do well. If he does, they need to just let Romo go the old QB graveyard. I like Romo. But he has become so fragile....dare I say Bradford-like. Good skills. Bad luck. You're really rolling the dice to bet your season on eiby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the Rams are going to make a move or two before game 1. And the reason is simple: Keenum is playing very well, Mannion has progressed, and Goff is starting to come on. The oline is looking better than I thought it would. Higbee is going to quickly rise as one of the better receiving TEs. And I think with the return of EJ Gaines, and the incredible depth at Dline, Fisher believes thby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
One of Kush or Rhaney is going to be kept. Who's the backup Center, otherwise? Chase Reynolds makes it. He's the heart of the STs and can fill in at RB in a pinch. Always activated on game day. Pretty much agree otherwise.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Havenstein improves the RT position. And Saffold to LG improves that position. Both have many games under their belts at those respective positions so it shouldn't be hard to make that move.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I noticed that Fisher never brings it up either. But I suppose that's to be expected; he's not going to promote a private academy that does a better job of coaching up his player than his staff does. But I remember seeing an interview with Bentley after coaching GRob, and he says he is the most talented, athletic, powerful OT he has ever coached. And that it was just a few details that GRobby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think it is any coincidence that he attended Bentley's Oline school and now he is much better. But at the same time, that's not the only reason. Time, reps, health, determination, study, it all works together. He was an awfully young man (I think he was only 20 or 21) when he came out. And the Rams were just a bad team, with the oline being nothing but shifting sands. In any case,by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
It has to have been that for some reason the player who touched the ball was not eligible to do so, as opposed to any player on the kick unit touching the ball inside the 5. Perhaps going out of the bounds (thus being ineligible to the be the FIRST to touch the ball) isn't the only reason to make a guy ineligible to touch it first. Otherwise I don't know.by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
This is not at all about the amount of money: it stays the same regardless. It is strictly about how it gets paid out. There is no argument over the amount of salary, bonus, or even the amount guaranteed. This is strictly about the way the SB is paid out and if the player is cut or traded if he gets to double dip on guaranteed money. The idea of his agents that guaranteed means guaranteby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
What I keep hearing is that 1) Nobody pays the SB in one lump sum (especially for the highest picks) and 2) offset language is pretty standard even though not universal. Also that basically a balance is usually sought between how much SB is paid all at once, versus offset language. So if Offset is included, then the SB is paid out more quickly. Or no offset and the SB is paid out over a longerby RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
Kirwin is essentially saying that although the kid is setting his bridges on fire, pretty soon he'll exhaust all his options and sign like Bradford did. And exactly what did all this accomplish? It gave the team and Bosa bad tastes in their mouths for one another, and it makes other teams wary. The smart move is to start Keenum game 1. He's earned it. He's played very well. He's earned his teammates and his coaches respect. If he flops nothing could be more welcome by everyone than to insert Goff. If he succeeds, that works, too.....nobody will complain and all will be happy for Keenum. The Rams will be seen as having untold riches at QB. But....if Fisher starts Goff in game 1,by RockRam - RamsFootballFans.com
