I cannot stand the excuses for piss poor service. When people give me a stunned look when I say I am RETIRED and I get the "You're too young to retire!" crap, I remind them....For 35 and a half years, I did a job where when called, response is RIGHT FREAKING NOW.....1PM....1 AM....sitting on the crapper....eating...sleeping....back by seconds from a prior call and I'm exhausted. NO excuses, we were there. Maintaining that readiness, in itself, was stressfull. BUT WE DID IT!
When I order delivery or service for something, I cannot stand to have someone piss on my back and tell me it's raining. If a product or service is NOT available for purchase or pick up, DON'T SELL IT! Like you said....The smaller Carpet places are often family businesses who give a sh** about reputation. They will to 10 fold the service with a hundredth the personnel to do it.
It ALL makes me think of SEARS and what they USED to be about. Look at them now.
