He HATED HATED his last 10-12 years. Around 1987 or 88, I was home on leave from the USAF. We had lunch in the Mall McDonalds, close to the SEARS store. He was working that day and in a bummed mood. He told me then that SEARS was more n more ALL about Credit Cards and Maintenance Agreement Warantees. He worked in the Home Entertainment Dept for his last 23 years. He could sell TONS of merchandise but catch ROYAL hell because he was a Credit Card sale short of a SEARS quota. He had a "Manager" who was ONE year older than me threaten his job over it. He told me THEN that he could see Customers turning away. Customer Service had started the fall. SEARS SHOULD still be here and going strong but DUMBA$$ "management" and CEOs killed it quickly.
