Started with our washing machine 2 summers ago. Our criteria list for what we wanted in a new washing machine was quickly trimmed down to what can we get in less than 2 months? In December of that same year our dishwasher bit the dust, we got the last dishwasher in stock at our local big box store. Our microwave died a month after that. There were more microwaves in stock compared to other appliances, so that wasn't a huge issue. This past March our furnace decided that it had had enough. We managed to get that replaced quickly, but it has been embarrassing walking around in wearing a barrel and suspenders for my clothing since then.
One common theme, that I've been hearing from appliance experts throughout this process of breakdowns, is that if it is at all possible to fix your older appliance get that done because the new stuff is poorly made by comparison. I don't know if that is true or just this generation's version of "they don't make things like they used to." Anyway, I hope that you don't have to buy any new appliances for quite some time now, Mama.
