Algona Iowa , just a little South East of were I live
back in WWII , Algona was the Main Hub of a German prisoner of war camps
about 10,000 German War prisoner's were kept at Algona , and other prision camps here in Iowa , and also Minnesota and Wisconson
as many of the local young men were off fighting the war , they brought in German prisoner's to work the farm fields
they've made a movie about it , I'm not sure what the actual main plot of the movie is , but I'm sure the fear of having that many German Soldiers in the area will have some to do with it
