With a proper budget, and good writing. The key would be keeping the same vibe. Toooooo many remakes (EVERY Star Wars flick from the last 20 years) always has some Director trying "something new" and it sucks. Look at Youtube and you will find a remake of the Doomsday Machine done by FANS of Star Trek. I believe they used the exact remake of the Bridge that some guy created in South Georgia. It is quite cheesy and bad acting but a labor of love. What caught my eye was the almost nothing but positive comments. And I agreed with them. There are a LOT of Star Trek fans who thirst for the ORIGINAL look. Professionally done, it'd work great.
