Yeah, that's fairly common..

at least around here.. Lot of top rate musicians and GOOD tribute bands get paid really well.. In Dallas, there are probably 50 tribute bands and the funny thing is, that the same group of musicians play in multiple tribute bands and fill in for when one member can't make a show.. its a very "modular" type setup where there might be 4-5 guitarists that can handle an Ozzy tribute band, or Motley Crue tribute band, for example and will drop what they're doing and go fill in at the last second for each other...
