Grew up on a farm, been around more dogs then I can likely remember. My ex GF had a Lab/Blue Heeler mix. Most amazing dog I have ever been around. That dog was smarter the 90% of the people I know.
Some of the things that dog would do. If it got around 6 PM and we hadn't feed the dogs yet, that dog would put one dog dish inside the other inside a 3rd, pick up all three in its mouth and set in front of the TV (blocking the TV) and stare at us with all three dog dishes in its mouth.
Also if the other two dogs were on the couch she would walk by, give them a little side eye then go to back door and bark. When the other two dogs ran to back door to see what was going on she'd get on the couch and then growl when the other two came back not letting them back on the couch.
That dog loved to meet new people but if they weren't a dog person she would give them a slight growl and wouldn't approach them. They didn't even have to show any outward body langue that they weren't comfortable around dogs, she just somehow knew.
If I ever get another dog I'm pretty sure it will be a Blue Heeler.
