Absolutely LOVE the breed.. really don't want any other breed of dog.. but, they can be a handful, at times.. Every time we feed them they lose their minds more than the French when Lindbergh landed.. they totally lose their minds and there is NO way of settling them down.. Oh sure I've tried the "don't give them the food until they calm down" approach, but after 20 minutes of waiting I hafta get back to life.. and no matter how many times I try that approach, the next feeding is a complete disaster.. I tried for 2-3 years to calm down Torrie, but she never got any better..
One of our Beagles will start barking incessantly up to 3 hours before dinner time.. he won't shut up no matter what I try.. I usually eventually give up and feed them just so I don't hafta hear a dog, who can literally HURT your eardrums, for 3 hours.. And he does the same thing at night when I give them bones to chew on.. or if we come home from the movies, or dinner.. they literally will tear the house up until you give them what they want.. its nuts..
They also love chewing up anything they can get their paws on.. Torrie and Lucie did that for a couple of years, but eventually grew out of it.. these three clodhoppers have not grown out of it..
I could go on and on.. bottom line, tho, I couldn't live without them.. well, two of them lol
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
